CENTRAL MARKET IN HOI AN

Central Market in Hoi An is the only Vietnamese market here. Set on the south east of the city beside the river, the Central Market always remains crowded. You can purchase foodstuffs and fine quality silk from the never ending array of shops here. There are some fabulous silk tailoring shops on the east end from where you can get your dress stitched within a very short span of time by spending very less.

CLOTH MARKET IN HOI AN

Hoi An is referred as Mecca of Vietnam when it comes to silk. Some of the world’s finest qualities silk are available here. And what could be a better destination than the Cloth Market, Hoi An, to purchase dress materials from. Besides the finest quality silk, which are available here in ample amount, you would also find a long array of tailoring shops in the Cloth Market

SILK IN HOI AN

Hoi An is a veritable Mecca for silk lovers and the quality and range on offer here is the best in the country. Again, many think that tailors who advertise that they can provide a silk suit within 24 hours must be good but in fact it's quite the opposite: the tailor who takes his time is the tailor you need to frequent.

Be choosy about your cloth, or go to the market and buy it yourself (Hoi An Cloth Market is at 01 Tran Phu St.), and haggle. It's not a bad idea to bring an actual suit or piece of clothing that you'd like a copy of.

SILK LANTERNS IN HOI AN

The home of these Vietnamese silk lanterns is Hoi An, south of Vietnam (just 28 km to the Southeast of Danang City.) Hoi An is a world cultural heritage site and was one of the major trading centers of Southeast Asia in the 16-17th century. Merchant boats from Arabian countries and China came to Hoi An to trade. Hoi An has long been a cultural crossroads where Japanese, Chinese, Dutch, Indian traders set up their emporiums or established their own quarters for permanent habitation. Today, this enchanting town is a living museum dedicated to the past.

PARASAILING IN HOI AN

Situated at a very romantic place on the South China Sea, Hoi An is a very small town. The geographical position of the town gives ample of opportunities of water sports to all its visitors and well as local people. Among many Parasailing in Hoi An is very popular.

COOKING CLASSES IN HOI AN

Cooking classes are available at a number of Hoi An's restaurants and cafes. A very popular activity during a tour of Vietnam is a cooking class. Vietnamese cuisine is globally known for its varied flavours, presentation and freshness. Classes usually take a half a day and there are several to choose from in Hoi An. The more developed classes involves a trip to the nearby market to buy the traditional Vietnamese ingredients.

TRA QUE VEGETABLE FARM

 Located about 3 km North of Old Hoi An, Tra Que vegetable planting village is well known in Quang Nam province and Da Nang City. All the villagers in Tra Que are farmers, shrimp raisers and vegetable planters. They grow a wide variety of veggies and herbs in the rich soil at the top of the rice field in their gardens and sell them to the whole province of Quang Nam province and Da Nang City.

THE POTTERY VILLAGE OF THANH HA

Located 3 km West of Hoi An, Thanh Ha is the pottery village that play an important role in the economic development of Hoi An old town. Thanh Ha pottery villagers are doing the same work in the same way their fore fathers did in the past. In their clever and skillful hands, clay turns to be pretty flower vases, tea pots, piggybanks, wine bottles, water jars, kettles, cooking pots or lovely birds, turtles, buffaloes, cats, ducks, etc.

Nowadays many old buildings in Hoi An need repairing and restoring and Thanh Ha villagers are the only trusted contractors that can provide standardized bricks, roof and floor tiles exactly like those in the prosperous time when Hoi An port town prospered.

Hoi An Town (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

Strolling through the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An is like walking into a fairy tale, a quiet and friendly place reminiscent of a colourful era. Hoi An was one of South-East Asia's main commercial ports from the 17th to the 19th century and an important centre of East–West cultural exchange. Its ancient past is superbly preserved in fascinating temples, pagodas, shop houses and homes which make up the town’s old quarter. This UNESCO World Heritage listed site is one of Vietnam’s major historical treasures and just a five minute drive from the Swiss-Belhotel Golden Sand Resort.


Around Hoi An

The centre of Vietnam was historically the Cham Kingdom, before becoming the ancient empire of Annam. This heritage can be explored in the town of Hoi An, the site of My Son and the city of Hue, all UNESCO-listed World Heritage Sites and three of the architectural gems of the country. It is a distinctive region, a narrow band of beautiful highlands and coast, rich in cultural history.


My Son Valley (UNESCO World Heritage Site)  

My Son Valley was the spiritual centre of the ancient Cham civilisation, in the same way as Angkor Wat in Cambodia, Borobudur in Indonesia and Pagan in Myanmar.
A religious sanctuary since the 4th century, its history is reflected in the temples and towers that remain. It is also the home of the Museum of Cham Sculpture, which records the development of the culture and history of the Cham people through their elaborate sculptures and carvings. My Son Valley is 35 miles (60km) northwest of Hoi An.


Hue (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

Hue was once the national capital and is today one of Vietnam’s most important historical attractions. The Imperial City was home to 13 emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty. The Royal Citadel, constructed in 1805, is equalled only by the spectacular Forbidden City in Beijing. The charm of this timeless city lies not only in its historical and architectural value, but also the natural beauty of its location on the banks of the Perfume River. Hue is 62 miles (110km) north of Da Nang and 90 miles (140km) north of Hoi An.
